Why Wisconsin Matters

By Cindy Honcoop

All eyes are on the state of Wisconsin, and their very brave Governor Scott Walker, as they face what can only be described as an epic political moment in history.

Democrats in Wisconsin and many other states, including Washington, are proving their dedication to the status quo, as well as a rabid determination to do nothing about the reality of the mounting debt crisis they created

Stepping up to the plate would be Governor Walker willing to bravely lead the way out while facing an entrenched union foe.

When Gov. Walker proposed state workers contributing to their pensions and health-care benefits he started a revolution — teachers abandoned their schools and democrat senators fled the state.

The public has not been  much impressed with this, especially once they realized  these “servants of the people” currently contribute a fifth of a penny on a dollar of wages towards their pensions, and only a fourth of what private sector worker pays for health insurance.

The Wisconsin bill that brought on all of this controversy only asks public employees  to make some of the same sacrifices private sector employees make regularly. They appear to be less than eager.

Washington state faces many of the same problems as Wisconsin, and even now hostile unions are aggressively pounding their chests and flexing their muscles with our legislators in Olympia  — and being paid by you to do so.

How our elected leaders stand against union pressure is still to be seen, but we know taxpayers lose if unions win.

Call Gov Walker and let him know you
support the bold stand he is taking

Coming...Your Own Government “Idenity Ecosystem”

By Cindy Honccop

the government wants your information – from what you purchase to what you blog.

Over the years many forms of national ID have been pursued by the government for various reasons. The American people, however, know privacy is foundational to freedom.
Now packaged as “Internet security” President Obama is mandating what amounts to a national ID card, your own Internet passport.

Who has a hand in creating this “identity ecosystem” ? That would be our former WA State Gov Gary Locke.

Since leaving this Washington for the “other” Washington to serve as Secretary of Commerce Locke has been at the forefront of developing this government “identity ecosystem”.

Do you want the government tracking every web site you visit, every purchase you make, your deposits or withdrawals, your private medical records, your blog comments, your Facebook and Twitter posts, or logging your religious and political affiliations, donations, memberships, and interests?

While insisting this will be a voluntary program we all know what happens to “volunteer” government programs.

Voluntary is always the footpath to mandatory, and this proposal should alarm every American citizen.

Fight For Marriage

By Conn Carroll, Heritage Foundation

Attorney General Eric Holder sent a letter to the Speaker of the House, informing him that President Obama’s Justice Department will no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in federal court.

The letter clearly states that the decision was personally made by the President himself — a purely partisan act.

Nearly 40 states have enacted state-level DOMAs, and 31 have embraced traditional marriage in their state constitutions.

Congress now has the opportunity to offer a real defense of marriage in court. Congress must defend its rights as a co-equal branch of government under the United States Constitution and fight for marriage.

Budget reality in Olympia

By Bob Williams & Amber Gunn

There is no way to sugarcoat this: This is the worst biennial budget we have ever seen. The state continues to spend too much, tax too much and go into too much debt. Gov. Christine Gregoire has repeatedly delayed meaningful action to solve the 2009-11 budget deficit.  Her failure jeopardizes the state’s credit rating.

Gov. Gregoire’s recent budget proposals are too little too late. Her public frustration at the Legislature’s failure to propose a supplemental budget that closes the entire deficit rings hollow, as she herself has failed to use the tools at her disposal to force the issue. These tools are across-the-board cuts and the renegotiation of collective bargaining agreements. She is the state’s executive—in other words, the boss. She can compel action on the budget deficit.

The governor continues to wait on the legislative majority, rather than showing the real leadership Washington needs.

Bills we’re Watching in Olympia

By Cindy Honcoop

Regulating Private Crisis Pregnancy Centers—SHB 1366
, the most radical anti-pregnancy center bill to date, is not dead but it has lost some of its momentum and we are encouraged by that. It is currently in the Rules Committee and it must move to the House floor by Monday March 7 to move forward. Please call your legislators and ask them to oppose.

Regulating the Initiative process—HB 1668  Frustrated by the power the people of Washington State use to restrain the legislature by using their constitutional right of initiative, Democrat legislature are seeking to make the process more expensive by raising the filing fee from fifty dollars to five hundred dollars, and by adding regulations and restrictions on those who gather signature. This bill is a cheap shot at citizens and taxpayers. Please call your legislators and ask them to oppose.

Granting Homosexuals Gay Marriage—HB 1963 Homosexual activists in Washington State are back with the next step in their plan to dismantle traditional marriage. Seeing the Democrat stranglehold of power diminished by voters in November they are seeking to secure the right of civil marriage while they still have enough Democrats in power to pass it. Please call your legislators and ask them to oppose.

National Popular Vote—HB 1950  Withdraws Washington State from the internet compact to elect the president by popular vote. National Popular Vote is a cleverly disguised campaign to dismantle our electoral college. Please call you legislators and ask them to support.

Special Report—Muslim Brotherhood

  By Frank Gaffney,
Center for Security Policy
www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in 1928. Its express purpose was two-fold: (1) to implement shariah worldwide, and (2) to re-establish the global Islamic State (caliphate).

·   “Therefore, Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood have the same objectives. They differ only in the timing and tactics involved in realizing them.

·   “The Brotherhood’s creed is: ‘God is our objective; the Koran is our law; the Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.’”

·   It is evident from the Creed, and from the Brotherhood’s history (and current activities)…that violence is an inherent part of the MB’s tactics. The MB is the root of the majority of Islamic terrorist groups in the world today.

·   The Muslim Brotherhood is the ‘vanguard’ or tip-of-the-spear of the current Islamic Movement in the world. While there are other transnational organizations that share the MB’s goals (if not its tactics) – including al Qaeda, which was born out of the Brotherhood – the Ikhwan is by far the strongest and most organized. The Muslim Brotherhood is now active in over 80 countries around the world.

Of particular concern must be the purpose of the Brotherhood in the United States and other nations of the Free World:

·   “…The Ikhwan’s mission in the West is sedition in the furtherance of shariah’s supremacist agenda, not peaceful assimilation and co-existence with non-Muslim populations.”

·   “The Ikhwan believes that its purposes in the West are, for the moment, better advanced by the use of non-violent, stealthy techniques. In that connection, the Muslim Brotherhood seeks to establish relations with, influence and, wherever possible, penetrate: government circles in executive and legislative branches at the federal, state and local levels; the law enforcement community; intelligence agencies; the military; penal institutions; the media; think tanks and policy groups; academic institutions; non-Muslim religious communities; and other elites.

·   “The Brothers engage in all of these activities and more for one reason: to subvert the targeted communities in furtherance of the Muslim Brotherhood’s primary objective – the triumph of shariah.”

In short, the Muslim Brotherhood – whether it is operating in Egypt, elsewhere in the world or here – is our enemy.  It is no less reckless to allow the Brotherhood’s operatives to enjoy continued access to and influence over our perceptions of their true purposes, and the policies adopted pursuant thereto.
