WASL Flunks

Randy Dorn, the new superintendent of public instruction plans to make good on his campaign promise to junk the WASL. Fifteen years after the passage of controversial education reform legislation the WASL is finally being declared a failure. Unfortunately, Washington citizens have already poured millions of their tax dollars into an experiment many knew was doomed from the start.

The WASL will be replaced with two new measurements of student progress and Randy Dorn  promises the new system will be rigorous and will eventually save the state a lot of time and money. Yes and haven’t we’ve heard this before? By the way, as a former state legislator, Mr. Dorn was a prime sponsor of the Ed Reform legislation that gave us the WASL.
